((TPD image) BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – In celebration of Women's History Month, the Titusville Police Department recognized Verda Blackburn, who, in 1954, became the department's first policewoman. Policewoman Blackburn was in charge of directing and controlling traffic, aiding students across the street and stopping and slowing traffic at the Titusville Elementary School zone on Washington Avenue.
